first of all what happened before moving
0:03
on to what might happen next if you
0:07
would describe for us with your Peerless
0:12
experience uh what happened in the
0:16
Iranian attack on Israel last
0:20
night well simply put what happened is
0:22
that the Iranian government has
0:26
established a um publicly
0:30
um discernable policy on deterrence uh
0:35
they have let Israel know and and not
0:37
just Israel they have let the United
0:38
States and every other nation in within
0:41
Missile Range know that there will be a
0:44
heavy price to be paid if you attack
0:46
Iranian soil um that Iran will not
0:49
tolerate the kind of attack that took
0:51
place on the 1 of April where Israel
0:54
attacked um the Iranian Consulate in
0:57
Damascus and I believe Iran has also put
1:00
putting um a marker on the table that
1:02
says Iran will no longer tolerate the
1:04
kind of actions such as the
1:06
assassination of um nuclear scientists
1:10
on its soil by Israel in the past this
1:13
will not be tolerated that in the future
1:15
if you choose to attack Iran Iran will
1:18
retaliate and they will retaliate with
1:21
the kind of force that cannot be
1:24
interdicted and the kind of force that
1:26
will destroy that which is is seeking to
1:28
destroy now the Iran Chans were very
1:30
clever in the in in creating this
1:33
posture in that all they had to do is
1:36
show a proof of concept I think a lot of
1:38
people were saying well they didn't
1:40
destroy uh an Airfield they didn't
1:42
destroy an Israeli headquarters they
1:44
didn't kill hundreds or thousands of
1:46
Israelis they weren't intending to they
1:49
were simply letting the Israelis and the
1:51
Americans know that we have the capacity
1:53
to destroy an Airfield all the Israelis
1:56
have to do is look at a map look where
1:58
the the the Iranian missiles hit
2:00
understand that the Iranians hit that
2:02
which they were aiming at and there was
2:04
nothing Israel could do to stop those
2:06
missiles from reaching their target and
2:08
Israel is the most heavily defended
2:10
airspace in the world with the most
2:12
sophisticated anti-missile technology
2:14
deployed in depth and they couldn't stop
2:16
the Iranian missiles so the signal to
2:18
the United States which lacks this
2:21
comprehensive air defense umbrella over
2:23
its installations in the Middle East is
2:26
there too but for the grace of God go
2:29
you if you to attack us or fac
2:31
facilitate an Israeli attack so this was
2:35
I call it one of the the greatest
2:37
military demonstrations in modern
2:39
history because by doing what they did
2:43
Iran not only put Israel into check but
2:46
believe it or not they have created a
2:49
foundation for peace and stability in
2:51
the Middle East by eliminating uh from
2:55
of from consideration options that
2:57
Israel and the United States may have
2:59
been considering down the road such as a
3:02
preemptive strike against uh Iranian
3:04
nuclear facilities or a punishing attack
3:07
against the Iranian regime the United
3:09
States and Israel now on notice that if
3:12
they attempt to do something like that
3:14
the price they will pay will be
3:16
prohibitively high in the case of Israel
3:18
it might be terminally
3:21
High help those of us who don't know uh
3:25
weapons and systems uh like you do Scott
3:29
uh I said uh earlier in in my monologue
3:32
that the very slow moving drones and
3:36
then the cruise uh missiles that were
3:40
launched second ra second grade ones uh
3:44
were to as it where draw the
3:47
anti-missile fire to exhaust it it's
3:50
very expensive it's in rather short
3:52
supply uh and then to as a c de grass if
3:56
you like uh deliver the ballistic Miss
4:00
which cannot be were not uh uh uh
4:04
stopped were not interdicted were able
4:07
to uh land on their target the airbase
4:11
in the negtive have I got that right and
4:14
can you help further
4:17
explain certainly first of all let's
4:20
just point out the reality that Iran
4:22
started its attack um by launching the
4:26
slowest loudest weapons in its Arsenal
4:29
the sh drones and they did that because
4:31
they were sending a signal to Israel the
4:33
United States and everybody we're
4:35
attacking Israel now if they were
4:37
looking to carry out you know a lethal
4:39
attack why why announce at five hours in
4:42
advance why give Israel a chance to
4:44
withdraw its high valued assets from
4:47
bases of that are vulnerable um why give
4:50
the United States Great Britain and
4:52
France chance to move resources up ships
4:55
airplanes over Jordan to intercept these
4:58
missiles Iran was saying here we come
5:01
shoot us down and they did they came out
5:04
and they shot the uh they shot the
5:05
drones down now Iran launched tens of
5:08
millions of dollars worth of drones the
5:11
United States and Israel spent billions
5:13
of dollars shooting them down this is a
5:15
financial equation that's unsustainable
5:17
and that was one of the points that Iran
5:19
was making is you can't afford this kind
5:22
of War then they sent in cruise missiles
5:25
that combined with the drones defined
5:28
the initial phase of the air defense
5:32
reaction not only the air defense the
5:33
outer the the airplanes but once they
5:36
penetrated the airplanes the Iron Dome
5:38
started engaging and they brought in
5:40
missiles at a higher level so that the
5:41
AOS systems and the Patriots started to
5:44
engage and they defined the radar they
5:46
Define how Israel is locking in on the
5:48
targets and then they did three things
5:50
and this is where it gets iffy I have to
5:52
be honest George it's very early and
5:55
there's incomplete information out there
5:57
but my understanding that is that Iran
5:59
used three types of ballistic missiles
6:02
one ballistic missile uh it's it's a
6:05
very clever missile it it it uses a
6:07
warhead that separates and then fires
6:10
burst fires a bunch of decoys out there
6:12
that appear to be specifically designed
6:15
to absorb iron Dome uh missiles so
6:19
remember the Iron Dome is tracking a
6:20
Target you fire these these these decoy
6:23
burst and so the Iron Dome says aha we
6:26
have now 25 targets and they fired 25
6:30
interceptors
6:32
meanwhile smaller Warheads maneuverable
6:35
burst through those interceptors and go
6:37
down and hit the Israeli air defense
6:40
systems and that appears to be the case
6:42
I was looking at some video where you
6:44
see this taking place the shotgun effect
6:46
of these bomblets uh the Iron Dome
6:49
responding and then coming in and they
6:51
hit the air defense system so they're
6:53
showing the Israelis how we're going to
6:55
take you out the next thing that you see
6:58
is they have these Miss coming in where
7:00
you see the Warhead separating from the
7:02
uh from the missile body and then
7:05
there's a booster engine on the Warhead
7:07
that drives it down into the ground at
7:09
high speed blowing away any radar
7:12
intercept any ability intercept hitting
7:15
the Target and what this does is it
7:17
clears the space they clear air defense
7:19
the final thing are these heavy Warheads
7:22
that come off of the heavy missiles that
7:24
hit the runways and blew the big craters
7:26
in them this was a thre layered
7:28
ballistic missile attack that was
7:30
specifically designed by the Iranians to
7:33
destroy Israeli air defense to clear the
7:36
way to take out air defense and then to
7:38
show that we can put the big Warheads on
7:40
the target anywhere in Israel we want to
7:44
and this was successful and the beauty
7:45
of this is they didn't use their best
7:47
missiles all three with the exception
7:50
one one of these missiles is rather new
7:53
but it's not the Hypersonic missile
7:54
Israel didn't use their Hypersonic
7:56
missile and Israel has lots of these
7:58
missil this just a single strike package
8:01
Iran has several strike packages just
8:04
like this held in reserve that they have
8:06
for damona that they have for the Kira
8:09
in Tel Aviv that they have for other air
8:11
bases um Iran can repeat this process
8:15
all day long and what they showed Israel
8:17
is this is what we can do and I can
8:19
guarantee you there's people like me
8:21
right now who wear uniform or
8:22
Intelligence Officers doing the exact
8:24
same analysis doing and they're writing
8:26
big critical reports up to chain of
8:27
command saying stop all since we can't
8:30
win this war it's over guys stop it we
8:34
have no defense here if Iran wants to
8:36
come in we are powerless this thing will
8:38
escalate out of control make it stop now
8:40
which is why Joe Biden was on the phone
8:42
with the G7 to intervene with Israel why
8:45
Joe Biden was on the phone with
8:46
Netanyahu and why netanyahu's generals
8:48
were telling him stand down we can't win
8:51
this fight this is a huge Iranian
8:54
victory yeah we'll come to that L Point
8:57
uh in a minute but do you agree with me
8:59
me that as George W bush might put it uh
9:03
they've all
9:04
misunderestimated Iran all
9:07
along well again the military hasn't I I
9:12
I have to say that I've worked with
9:13
Israeli intelligence with their
9:15
technical intelligence people with the
9:16
people who do the analysis and the
9:19
assessments of missiles these are smart
9:20
people and if I sitting here thousands
9:24
of miles away without any access to
9:26
secret information would could have said
9:28
I I knew most of this going in before
9:30
this happened I knew what Iranian
9:32
capabilities were I can guarantee you
9:34
they knew exactly what this was but the
9:36
problem is getting their voice heard by
9:38
Israeli policy makers who are driven by
9:40
emotion and by by politics domestic
9:43
politics Etc um what this attack did is
9:47
Empower their voices because now whereas
9:51
political leaders could say well you're
9:52
just speculating you don't know that's
9:54
just geeky intelligence stuff now they
9:57
have the hard data the photo put on the
10:00
table the air defense guys saying boss
10:01
we gave it our best shot there was
10:03
nothing we could do to stop him the
10:04
Americans calling up saying there's
10:06
nothing more we can do we did everything
10:08
we can't stop this um and now the
10:10
Israeli politicians are waking up to the
10:12
harsh reality that um the fiction that
10:15
they have been living uh you know living
10:17
under um is is is not even close to
10:20
reality it was a fantasy and there's a
10:22
real world out there and it's a
10:23
dangerous world and they're going to
10:25
have to change the way that they
10:28
operate so let's move on to what happens
10:31
next Scott if you will uh it said and
10:34
that you've just said it the media is
10:36
saying it I believe it that Biden has uh
10:42
sought to dissuade in what words and at
10:45
what price who knows but sought to
10:48
dissuade an Israeli response to Iran's
10:54
response uh for fear of this wider
10:57
configration for fear of a serious 10
11:02
times more serious Iranian response to
11:05
any Israeli response uh but the question
11:11
is can Netanyahu survive without
11:15
responding listening to Ben and others
11:19
already this evening uh it seems to me
11:23
that Netanyahu would fall uh from Power
11:27
were he to go along with what Biden
11:30
seems to be asking him to
11:33
do there's a couple things that uh I
11:35
think we're going to see um one I think
11:38
we're going to see Israel ratcheting up
11:40
the pressure on Hezbollah and now we're
11:42
going to have to see um you know the
11:45
skills of um Hassan nasala and his
11:49
ability to manage uh this escalation
11:52
ladder which he's done so masterfully
11:54
but more more pressure is going to be
11:56
put on Hezbollah by Israel and Iran is
11:58
going to be PR pressing Nella not to
12:00
allow it to blow up um not to allow it
12:03
to um you know become the general war
12:06
that Netanyahu so desperately needs uh
12:08
two I think Netanyahu is going to call
12:11
in the head of mad and sit benir down
12:14
with him and say we're going to double
12:16
down on our our covert war against
12:18
Israel you know there a lot of people
12:20
have forgotten but there was a there was
12:22
a huge demonstration last year that
12:24
became a Civil War I I talked to senior
12:27
Iranian officials about it they said
12:29
this this isn't demonstrations this is a
12:31
this is a hybrid War run by the CIA and
12:34
Israeli Massad designed to bring Iran
12:36
down from within and it's a it was a big
12:39
problem it was a big fight uh the
12:41
Iranians won they prevailed but I would
12:44
see Israel um encouraging uh beluch
12:48
nationalist movements to strike um Iran
12:51
and zahedan I would see them encouraging
12:53
Isis to strike uh in in inside uh Israel
12:57
I would encourage them to see the Kurds
12:59
striking the m muin al striking all
13:02
these external forces that the CIA the
13:05
British and Israeli intelligence have
13:07
been propping up for years I think
13:09
you're going to see the Israeli saying
13:11
you need to double down on this stuff we
13:13
need to put the pressure on Iran because
13:15
we we can't be seen as doing nothing we
13:18
have to be seen as doing something and
13:19
this again will test the limits of
13:22
Iran's deterrent policy at what point in
13:24
time will Iran expand it to say that the
13:28
that hybrid attack attacks using a proxy
13:31
uh qualifies as the same as a direct
13:33
attack and our our deterrence will kick
13:34
in as well we're we dodg the bullet but
13:37
we're not out of the we're not out of
13:39
the firefight yet there's going to be a
13:40
lot of um there's going to be a lot of
13:43
pressure put on down the road the good
13:45
news is Iran doesn't want to fight
13:48
they're not cowards they prove that they
13:49
will fight if need be but Iran's focus
13:52
is on the Shanghai cooperation
13:53
organization it's on bricks it's on
13:55
normalization of relations with Saudi
13:57
Arabia it's on economic prosperity and a
14:00
war with Israel will disrupt all of this
14:03
so the good news is there's a lot of
14:05
patience built into Iran's foreign
14:07
policy um a lot of
14:09
flexibility um and that that's necessary
14:12
at this point in time because Iran has
14:13
to understand that Israel has to do
14:16
something for internal politics and you
14:19
either want a war or you don't if you
14:21
don't want a war you're going to have to
14:23
grit your teeth and bear it as Israel
14:26
uses proxy forces to put pressure on to
14:29
punish Iran Iran will have to absorb
14:31
these attacks but the other good news is
14:34
Israel's losing the bigger War remember
14:36
the other thing Iran doesn't want to do
14:37
is distract attention away from the fact
14:39
that Hamas is winning that Hamas has
14:42
turned Global opinion against Israel
14:44
that the world is now talking about a
14:46
Palestinian state in ways that they had
14:48
never done before a larger war between
14:50
Israel and
14:51
Iran you know distracts people from that
14:54
that goal and Iran doesn't want that
14:56
Iran understands that the AIS of
14:58
resistance together with Hamas was in
15:00
the process of strategically defeating
15:02
Israel and that's the fight they want to
15:04
fight so I think Iran will be willing to
15:07
absorb blows from Israeli proxies uh in
15:10
order to stay focused on the Strategic
15:12
victory that they're handling and not
15:14
fall victim to the kind of you know
15:16
Petty human narcissism that Israel Falls
15:20
victim to where they say oh we've been
15:22
slided we have to do massive Revenge
15:25
Iran has shown itself to be a very
15:27
patient very resilient very mature
15:29
nation state when it comes to this sort
15:31
of
15:33
activity finally Scott and I'm grateful
15:36
for your time as always uh the
15:38
englishspeaking King of
15:41
Jordan uh uh who when he took the throne
15:46
literally could not speak Arabic and now
15:48
speaks it with a rather Splendid English
15:52
accent uh he was the only Arab leader if
15:58
we can call it an Arab colum a leader uh
16:02
who collaborated with Israel and the
16:05
United States last night even their much
16:08
more important and longer standing uh
16:11
allies declined uh the opportunity to do
16:15
that why did uh King Abdullah do that uh
16:20
has he not placed himself in very severe
16:25
difficulty now with his own population
16:27
which is overwhelming in ly uh opposed
16:30
to Israel overwhelmingly in support of
16:34
the Palestinians in Gaza what what on
16:37
Earth forced King Abdullah to do
16:41
that I call him the least Arab leader in
16:44
the Arab world as you pointed out he um
16:48
you know his his his roots his his
16:51
ideology his mindset is very British
16:54
it's not uh it's not of the Arab Street
16:57
he is so far removed from the reality of
16:59
his people um and he is so dependent
17:03
upon Israel and I put Israel first then
17:06
the United States and in Europe for uh
17:09
his continued viability as a leader um
17:12
his betrayal of the Palestinian cause is
17:15
is is apparent to all and now his
17:17
betrayal of the Arab world and indeed
17:20
the Muslim world is on display likewise
17:23
um he knows he's in a lot of trouble the
17:26
most dangerous thing in the world for
17:27
the hashimite king of Georgia
17:29
is happening and that is that the
17:32
Palestinian people have a pathway to
17:34
statehood and a Palestinian state is
17:37
perhaps the greatest threat to this
17:39
artificial entity called the hashimite
17:41
kingdom of Jordan because he's not a
17:43
Jordanian he is a Saudi Arabian
17:46
transplant um and his I believe the his
17:50
he may be the last hashimite king of
17:52
Jordan that um I don't wish upon him the
17:55
fate of the last hashimi king of Iraq
17:59
but I do believe that it's time for the
18:01
King of Jordan to take his family and
18:02
his retinue and fly off to London and
18:05
live where he belongs among the British
18:07
people he uh he so adores because he is
18:10
reviled and hated amongst his own people
18:12
and now amongst the entire Arab and
18:15
Muslim world he be is a betrayer of the
18:18
cause of the people of
18:21
Palestine so World War I or not Scott um
18:27
can we sleep in our bed tonight uh with
18:30
some confidence that the world will
18:33
still be here when we wake up in the
18:35
morning I'd say in the short term as
18:38
long as benguan airport is open and
18:40
flights are coming in and out go to bed
18:42
sleep well um if if benorian shuts down
18:47
then we need to start worrying about in
18:50
what direction this is going because the
18:51
Iranians aren't playing around anymore
18:54
and if benguan shuts down it means the
18:56
Israelis aren't taking um no
18:59
as an answer from the United States and
19:01
this thing could go in any direction but
19:02
for the moment Ban's open people are
19:05
